Meet the Team
Dr. Sophia Durisko, C. Psych
Clinical Psychologist
(she/her)
I am a registered Clinical Psychologist licensed to work with children and adolescents in Ontario. At WonderTree, I provide comprehensive psychological assessments to help families gain clarity about their child’s learning, emotional wellbeing, and development. My goal is to help you understand your child’s unique strengths and needs and to offer clear, practical recommendations that support success at home, at school, and in everyday life. I completed my PhD in Clinical Developmental Psychology at the University of Guelph and my residency at Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences, where I worked on adolescent outpatient and inpatient units. My doctoral research took place in an alternative school setting, where I explored how best to support youth identified as at risk. This work highlighted the importance of relationships, holistic support, and a sense of belonging in helping young people thrive.
I also work in community mental health as a staff psychologist at Kinark Child and Family Services, providing assessment, therapy, consultation, training, and supervision. I am extensively trained in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy for adolescents and children, which informs how I understand emotional regulation, behaviour, and family dynamics during the assessment process. A central part of my work is supporting families as they navigate school systems and advocate confidently for their child. I provide clear explanations, practical recommendations, and language you can bring into conversations with educators and other professionals. My hope is that you leave the assessment process not only with answers, but with confidence and a clear path forward.
I approach this work with curiosity, empathy, and genuine care. I believe every child deserves to feel understood, supported, and valued, and I am honoured to partner with families on that journey.
Outside of my professional work, I enjoy spending time with my family, exploring creativity through crafting, and staying active through movement and exercise to recharge and stay grounded.
