Mood / Depression

Our team of clinicians, including social workers, psychotherapists, and psychologists have extensive experience supporting youth who are navigating challenges with mood and depression. We take a collaborative and compassionate approach, helping each young person build emotional awareness, develop regulation strategies, and feel more confident in who they are. Whether through therapy or targeted support, our goal is to help youth feel seen, heard, and equipped to move through life in a way that feels manageable and meaningful. Some services may be covered by private insurance or OAP funding.

Mood and Depression

At WonderTree, we understand that challenges with mood and depression are not a sign of weakness, they are real mental health experiences that can deeply affect how a young person feels, thinks, and functions day to day. Depression in children and teens can show up as persistent sadness, irritability, low motivation, withdrawal from activities, or changes in sleep and appetite. These struggles can impact school, relationships, and self-esteem. With the right support, children and youth can learn to understand their emotions, build coping strategies, and reconnect with a sense of hope and possibility.

It’s okay to not be okay. We’re here to help.

Executive Functioning Coaching

Executive functioning skills are the mental tools we use to plan, organize, manage time, and regulate emotions. When these skills are lagging, often seen in kids with ADHD, mood disorders, or learning differences, daily tasks like starting homework, remembering instructions, or managing frustration can feel overwhelming.

Our executive functioning coaches help youth develop strategies to manage tasks, set realistic goals, and stay on track, while learning how to reduce the stress of overwhelming responsibilities.

Educational Advocacy

Feel like you have meeting after meeting and nothing changes for your child at school? Do you feel like you need support in advocating for them? Getting lost in all the red tape, acronyms, and jargon used in school meetings? (Click here to read our blog on IEPs and IPRCs)

We have certified teachers with years of Special Education experience and School Psychologists that can bridge the gap between your goals and translating that into school speak. They can attend school meetings with you, review and make educational plan recommendations (e.g., supporting Individual Education Plan (IEP) development), and support you in a variety of ways to help you advocate for your child.

Psychological Assessment

A psychological assessment can be a powerful first step in understanding what a child or teen is experiencing beneath the surface. When mood challenges or symptoms of depression begin to affect daily life, school, or relationships, an assessment can help clarify what’s going on and identify any underlying emotional, behavioural, or cognitive factors. It not only provides insight into a child’s mental health, but also offers clear recommendations for support at home, at school, and through therapy.
